Tam Dao tourist area is location on Tam Dao mountain range, at an altitude of over 900 meters above sea level, far away from Hanoi about 80 km. Tam Dao town is surrounded by primeval forests, clean and cool climate. It has favorable conditions for developing tourism and attracts thousand of tourist come to sightseeing and relaxation in weekend. Fortunately, I have a chance to visit Tam Dao last week. It is a great experience.It took 2 hours to get to Tam Dao by motorbike. Tam Dao was discovered and built by French since early years of the 19th Century. Because we traveled in winter, the atmosphere was quite chilly and we were surrounded by fog. The next day, the weather was warmer, there was sunshine, no longer fog and the temperature was higher. We stayed at Kim Lien hotel. The room was comfort and clean. The food at hotel restaurant was amazing with grilled chicken, beef hot pot, and vegetables….
On the first day, we just stayed at hotel for sleeping because of fog. We stared exploring Tam Dao tourist resort on second day. The first place we visited was Mother Holly mountain temple. This temple is the most famous place of town. You climb 200 steps to visit this temple.
The second place we visit was Old Stone Cathedral. In documents, this cathedral is location on central of Tam Dao town. Old Stone Cathedral was built from 1906 to 1912 in wood. In 1937, this cathedral was rebuilt in stone and still exists until now. It is located on a height of five meters and is accessed by two stairways at its front and its back. The church includes a main building that is 12 meters wide and 22 meters long, and on the building’s left is an 18-meter high bell tower.
The final place we visit was Thac Bac Waterfall. At 50-meter high waterfall known as Thac Bac, located in a valley next to the town’s central market. A stone stairway that is not long but quite steep leads to the waterfall that starts from a mountain slit and is surrounded by big trees and cliffs as well as chirping sounds of birds.
Tam Dao was called Da Lat of Northern Vietnam because of various climates in one day. You can feel 4 seasons just in 1 day. With clean and fresh weather, Tam Dao absolutely is an ideal resort in weekend.
